It seems that Western European lawyers are in demand with those arbitrating at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) - which handles investor state arbitration.

Whilst traditionally the appointments have been dominated by US lawyers, French and British arbitrators are gaining ground. Legal Business is reporting today that 19 French and 11 British lawyers were given panel places.

This seems to be a reflection of demand by those arbitrating. Almost 50% of those appointed to arbitrate last year were Western European.
