The Beast from the East is continuing to wreak havoc in the UK, causing major problems for commuters, such as hazardous driving conditions and severely delayed, if not cancelled, trains.
This is also forcing many offices to close early, and leaving workers unaware of their legal rights.
According to Gov.uk: "If the workplace is closed because of disruption and the employee doesn’t usually work from home, employers can’t usually deduct pay."
However, equally it is worth bearing in mind that employers "might be able to ask staff to go to another workplace or work from home."
If your office is still open but your child's school has closed, then according to Gov.uk staff "could have the right for time off to look after them."
With these freezing conditions, just remember one thing - stay safe!
