Female solicitors are now starting to outnumber their male counterparts. However, they are still not reaching the top ranks, according to a survey by the Law Society of England and Wales.
Another interesting statistic from the same survey showed that 74% of men said there had been progress in fighting unconscious bias, compared to 48% of women - a rather interesting finding.
In any case, the results of the survey show that the Law Society in this country is working hard to eliminate unconscious bias altogether, which is a good thing indeed.
“Unconscious bias in the legal profession is the most commonly identified barrier to career progression for women, while flexible working is seen as a remedy by an overwhelming 91 per cent of respondents to our survey.”
